30-Day Wellness Challenge – May
30 Day Challenge – May Mental Health Awareness Month
By focusing on wellness, we can all bring awareness to mental health in May. Mental Health Association of South MS invites you to join the 30-Day Challenge by doing simple things each day. Get your family, friends and co-workers to enjoy this easy activity in the month of May.
May is Mental Health Month was started 68 years ago by Mental Health America, to raise awareness about mental health conditions and the importance of good mental health for everyone. When we engage in prevention and early identification, we can help reduce the burden of mental illness by identifying symptoms and warning signs early, and provide effective treatment before a crisis occurs.
For employers, presenteeism refers to the fact that employees may be at work, but due to health concerns, they are not working optimally. This issue has an annual cost to companies of over $180 billion per year and is a persistent problem at over 50% of workplaces. “As you can see, it benefits employers to get involved and take the 30 Day Challenge in May to promote wellness among staff,” says Liz Hoop, Mental Health Association of South MS Board President.
