Opal Smith Drop-In Center
Hours of Operation
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
You can help people with disabilities learn things that we take for granted.
- Socializing with peers and not feeling isolated and alone
- Being comfortable in the kitchen – from preparing simple meals to using kitchen tools and appliances safely
- Being able to shop independently, including counting money
- Developing coping skills that may lead to job opportunities
Having a disability doesn’t mean people can’t do things for themselves. Many of those who come to the Center are not severely handicapped, but they do need help setting simple goals and knowing what steps to take to reach them. We encourage and empower them to live their most independent life.
To schedule an appointment to see our program or be added to the waiting list to attend, please call 228-864-6274.
This program is funded through MS Department of Mental Health and generous donations from the community.
Community speakers, volunteer assistance, and donations of food and arts/crafts are always appreciated.
